Alpine Shire’s gateway to the Kiewa Valley is 36km north of Mount Beauty and 50km south of Wodonga.
Famous for the annual Dederang Picnic Races held on the first Saturday of every year. The annual race meeting swells the small population of just over 400 to well over 6, 000. The picnic race is a great family fun day out with activities and entertainment for the kids, live music, a market and much more.
One of Australia’s oldest race meetings, the Dederang Picnic Races has been a premier event on Victoria’s country racing calendar since 1865.
Dederang boasts its own iconic country pub and general store (with petrol). For sporting enthusiasts, the Dederang Recreation Reserve offers tennis courts; golf course and an opportunity to view the local sporting teams battle it out in either football, cricket or netball!
